Over the years, I have found that people do better and feel better about the process of counseling when the duration of counseling is brief.  For some people, intermittent returns to brief periods of counseling, provides a more cost-effective and targeted process, which  can contribute to greater benefits than continuous counseling.

 

Developing a a trusting, genuine relationship with a therapist/psychologist, a therapeutic alliance, is  both a process and the single most effective and important part counseling/therapy.   If you have developed a  trusting and genuine relationship with a therapist/clinician, I encourage you to consider a return to them rather than establish services with someone new.
